I didn’t write Epic & Kimura to distract kids from real life.
I wrote it to prepare them for it.
Yes, it’s a fantasy. There are powers, ancient coins, and epic battles.
But underneath it all—it’s about real things:
Fear. Pressure. Self-doubt.
Wanting to belong.
Wondering if you’re enough.
And what makes this story feel real?
It was lived before it was written.
The foundation came from life—real kids, real moments, and real growth.
I’ve watched my children face hard things.
I’ve seen students struggle.
I’ve taught on mats, in classrooms, and coached in the arena—and in corporate.
This story was built from all of it.
It’s meant to entertain, yes.
But more than that, it’s meant to equip.
To help kids stand up when life gets heavy.
To show them that fear doesn’t disqualify them—it’s just part of the path.
To remind them: Power doesn’t define you––your choices do.
The world’s tough. We know that.

My Story
Stoicism changed my life, and in turn, it changed my children's lives.
The greatest challenge in learning is not just knowing—it’s living what we know. The Stoics call this becoming a Warrior of the Mind.
The Epic & Kimura Series follows two children on a Heroes Journey where they apply the lessons they learn. And like all great adventures theirs begins with a choice:
